Pregnancy and Pediatric Chiropractic Care in Tyler

Pregnancy  Chiropractic Care

pregnancy chiropractor TylerOften, pregnancy brings with it bodily changes that can leave an expectant mother with unsettling pain and discomfort. Weight gain, changes in the center of gravity, hormonal fluctuations, morning sickness and ligament laxity are just a few of the symptoms that can disrupt a woman’s life when she’s pregnant. Added stress to the feet and the lumbar spine can result in sciatic pain and low back pain.

Chiropractic offers a gentle, safe and effective way to address symptoms during pregnancy. Some women like to be adjusted early in their pregnancies to address morning sickness and other early changes. Other women opt to postpone treatment until their fifth or sixth month when gait changes and sleep becomes more difficult. Your body will tell you what’s right for you — there’s no need to live with the pain.

Some women imagine the adjustment as a twisting, contorting exercise, but that’s not the case. You can receive your adjustment while seated on one of our exam tables, rather than lying down.

We want you to be as pain-free as possible as your body continues to change and you move forward through your pregnancy.

The goal of chiropractic care during pregnancy is to maintain proper spinal alignment, including the tailbone, and efficient nerve flow to allow the best development of your newborn while keeping mom comfortable. Many chiropractic patients report reduced delivery times and easier labors on mother and child. Dr. Ben also has acupuncture therapies that can help to reduce morning sickness and even induce pregnancy in the event you are past due.

Pediatric Chiropractic Care

pediatric chiropractor TylerIt’s not uncommon for Dr. Ben to adjust newborns and very young children. The strain of birth and the changes that come as children learn to sit, stand and walk can create a certain level of stress on a child’s body. As the curve of the neck and the curve of the spine are forming, and the child is learning to maintain an upright position, we want to keep the spine free from interference. The same is true as older children take falls from their bicycles or playground equipment and become involved in sports and other activities.

Children who are adjusted are less likely to suffer from colic and ear infections, and regular adjustments can keep kids off medications that can come with unwanted side effects. Just like our adult patients, children who are adjusted tend to sleep better, and that’s when the body does the majority of its healing. We want to see healthy growth and activity in all our young patients!

Dr. Ben allows the children to touch the equipment to see how it feels, and he’ll demonstrate first on himself or Mom or Dad, so the child knows exactly what to expect. Parents also may hold their children during the adjustment if it makes them more comfortable.

The experience Dr. Ben had as a teen with shoulder problems taught him that chiropractic could help in ways that medicine can’t. That’s why he feels passionate about helping children without the use of drugs and surgery wherever possible.

Many of our patients are coming in for treatments and seeing great results, so they bring their children in as well. They know the benefits of chiropractic. They’ve done the research, know the pros and cons, and are open to bringing their children because there are so many things we can do to heal the body naturally. Many parents tell us that they can see improvement in their children’s ability to focus, reduction in digestive issues and respiratory congestion or asthmatic symptoms and even stopping bedwetting. Medication and surgery may be necessary in certain cases, but they shouldn’t be our first line of defense.
